Privacy policy
What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to make us delete it. Written to be read, not scrolled past.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your sessions — not more.
- Your listener sees your first name and when you’re meeting. Not your intake answers, not your feedback.
- We don’t record your calls, and we don’t save the chat inside a call.
- No ads, no advertising trackers, and we never sell your data.
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address, and your name — as you type it, or from your Google account if you sign in with Google.
What you tell us in the intake. What’s been heavy lately, anything you choose to write in your own words, the kind of listener you’d prefer, and the lived experiences you’d like them to relate to. This can include information about your mental health and — if you choose to share it — your sexual orientation or gender identity. We treat all of it as sensitive.
Bookings and payments. Which listener you booked, when, for how long, what you paid, and the order and payment references from Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details — Razorpay handles those directly.
Feedback. The rating and any comments you leave after a session.
The technical minimum. Cookies that keep you signed in, and your light or dark mode preference, saved in your browser.
What we don’t collect. We don’t record your calls. We don’t store the text chat inside a call. We don’t ask for your phone number. We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
- To create your account and sign you in.
- To suggest listeners who fit what you’re going through, using your intake answers.
- To book your sessions, take payment, and send confirmations and reminders by email.
- To learn what’s working and what isn’t, from your feedback.
- To keep Confide safe, and to meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your data, rent it out, or use it to show you ads.
Who can see it
Your listener sees your first name and your session’s date, time and length. They don’t see your intake answers or your feedback.
The Confide team. A small number of people can access your data when it’s needed to run the service or to help you — for example, sorting out a payment problem.
Services we use to run Confide. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job for us:
- Supabase — our database, sign-in and file storage
- Razorpay — payments
- 100ms — the voice call and the chat inside it
- Resend — our emails
- Make.com — booking notifications (your name and email, your listener’s name, and the session time)
- Vercel — hosting the website
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google
Some of these providers may store or process data outside India.
When the law or someone’s safety requires it. We may share information if we’re legally required to, or if we believe it’s necessary to protect someone’s life or safety.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data — except records the law requires us to keep, like payment records for tax purposes, which we keep only as long as required.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it
- ask us to correct or update it
- ask us to delete it
- withdraw your consent — though we may not be able to run sessions for you without some of it
- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to
- complain to us, and if we don’t resolve it, to the Data Protection Board of India
To do any of this, email hello@confide.co.in from the address on your account. We’ll confirm it’s you and respond as quickly as we can, and always within the time the law requires.
Keeping it safe
Your data is encrypted in transit, and our database provider encrypts it at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach affects your data, we’ll tell you, and the Data Protection Board, as the law requires.
Age
Confide is for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and if we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.
Cookies
We only use cookies that Confide needs to work — mainly to keep you signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies. Razorpay may set its own cookies when you pay, under its own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
